Frequently Asked Questions About Online Marriages

· Online Marriage Ceremonies

Is an online marriage legal?

Yes. An online marriage is legal if it follows the laws of a U.S. state that allows remote marriage. When all rules are followed, the marriage is officially registered in the United States.

Do we need to be in the United States?

No. You do not need to travel to the U.S. The ceremony can be done online while you are anywhere in the world.

Can we be in different countries?

Yes. Partners can be in different countries or time zones. This does not stop the marriage.

Who performs the ceremony?

The ceremony is performed by Olga Baranova an authorized wedding officiant who has the legal right to conduct marriages under U.S. law.

In which language is the ceremony?

The ceremony can be conducted in English or in Russian, depending on your preference.

Will we receive an official marriage certificate?

Yes. After the ceremony, you receive an official U.S. marriage certificate. It has the same legal value as a certificate from an in-person wedding in that state.

Will our marriage be recognized in our country?

In many cases, yes — in countries where same-sex marriage is legal. Some countries may require extra steps, such as an apostille or translation. We recommend checking with local authorities or a lawyer in your country.

Is this service available for LGBTQ+ couples?

Yes. This service is open to everyone and is especially important for LGBTQ+ couples who cannot marry safely or legally where they live.

Is this a religious ceremony?

The ceremony can be secular or include spiritual elements, depending on your wishes.

Do you provide legal or immigration advice?

No. We do not provide legal or immigration advice. We guide you through the marriage process only.

How long does the process take?

It depends on document preparation and scheduling. Once the marriage license is approved (submitted through the official county clerk website with the help of our consultant), the ceremony can take place at any time. However, the marriage must be completed within 32 days from the date the license is issued.

Does part of the fee support activism?

Yes. Part of the fee supports LGBTQ+ communities in Russia who face discrimination and violence.

Why choose an online marriage?

For many couples, this is the only safe and legal way to marry. It helps people across borders and laws have their love recognized.
